Castellana Grotte

A characteristic village located in the Bari hinterland, known throughout the world for the Castellana Caves, the most important Speleological Complex in Italy, a few steps from the town, which branches off underground for over 3 km, offering visitors breathtaking scenery . An enchanted path at a depth of 70 m between stalactites and stalagmites, which ends with a visit to the White Grotto, known as the brightest cave in the world.

Also of great interest is the church of the convent of the Franciscan friars, which houses the image of the Madonna della Vetrana, protector of the city for having saved it from the plague of 1691 and celebrated on 11 January with the feast of bonfires.
